Yoga One Teachers

KELLY O’CONNELL

Kelly was introduced to yoga in November of 2003.  As an avid exerciser, the physical aspect of vinyasa flow immediately satisfied her appetite for a good sweat and workout. Gradually Kelly realized that she was coming to her mat for something other than her body.  She found serenity and a sense of oneness there.

In 2007, Kelly enrolled in Ana Forrest’s Foundations Teacher Training and completed her Certification Requirements in March of 2008.  Since then she has completed Forrest‘s Advanced Teacher Training and Baron Baptiste’s Level One Teacher Training Boot Camp as well as his Four Day Assistant Program.

She found her niche in Appleton, WI at the first Live, Love, Teach Advanced Vinyasa Teacher Training where she made a commitment to teach teachers the powerful concepts that she had learned there.  Kelly is a 500-Hour E-RYT (Experienced Registered Certified Yoga Teacher) with Yoga Alliance.  She owns and operates Yoga One, Inc. in Seekonk, MA where she conducts playful and empowering vinyasa yoga classes, hosts her 200 hour teacher training program and passionately teaches the Live, Love, Teach principles both on and off the mat.

LIZ BUTLER

Liz has been a dedicated yoga practitioner since 2003. Training with Tom Gillette and Shannah Green at Eyes of the World in Providence, she received her certification in vinyasa yoga in 2009. She believes that yoga can positively affect the well-being of any person open to the experience, and as a teacher is committed to meeting her students where they are. She strives to provide a non-competitive space for students of all levels to explore, discover and grow their yoga practice. Her flowing sequences are designed to spark courage, curiosity and kindness, while honoring the sense of vast interconnection that yoga opens up within us.

KATIE TRUSKOWSKI

Katie has been a practitioner of yoga and meditation for over 10 years. She received her 200-hour Hatha Yoga teaching certification in May 2007, through the Yandara Institute of Baja, Mexico. Her training and teaching experience includes the practices of asana, pranayama, and Zen meditation.

In addition to catering to mainstream populations, Katie specializes in adult populations with developmental disabilities. Katie believes that yoga is a state of mind, on and off the mat.

Katie is also an accomplished artist and new mom.

JOELLEN HOCKENBROUGH

JoEllen originally considered yoga to be just a part of her regular work out practice – to stretch and relax in between cardio and weight classes. It wasn’t until attending a Baptiste power yoga class three years ago that JoEllen’s opinion of yoga was forever changed. Yoga became far more than just a class to stretch or relax in, rather it was a new way of life on and off of the mat. Within a short period of time, regular practice gave way to JoEllen’s desire to share her experience with others.  JoEllen has completed both Level I and Level II teacher training with renowned instructor Baron Baptiste. She has also participated in several teacher training workshops with Master Baptiste teacher Coeli Marsh and in January 2012 completed the Baptiste Art of Assisting program as well as Anatomy for Yoga Teachers with Ed Cardinal.  JoEllen has also completed Level I Reiki Training. In addition to teaching yoga, JoEllen is a full time yoga teacher and lives in East Providence with her husband Craig and son Ian.

JULIE CLOUTIER

Julie has been practicing Yoga for 12 years and considers herself to be a student of Yoga first, as she believes that her Yoga practice is a lifelong commitment. Julie was given a book of Yoga poses as a gift and took her first class about a year later. From then on, Julie was hooked on Yoga and decided to complete her first Hatha Yoga teacher training in 2005 through Sivananda Yoga in California. She went on to complete a Vinyasa Yoga teacher training in 2007-2008 with Tom Gillette at Eyes of the World Yoga, where she still practices regularly.

Julie’s classes are energetic and joyful and draw from both the Hatha and Vinyasa Yoga traditions. She feels that yoga practice and “regular life” can become seamless, and encourages her students to be fully present in each and every moment of their lives. Yoga is the very center of Julie’s life and is her true passion! She is overjoyed that she is able to share this practice with others as a teacher at Yoga One.

JACKI CALLAHAN

Jacki tried yoga for the first time after college and enjoyed the versatility that it offered her.  Shortly after taking classes, Jacki decided to become an instructor so that she could continue to learn more about what yoga has to offer and teach what she has learned to others.  Jacki’s training is through YogaFit and she has taken levels 1,2, 3, 4, pre-natal and post-natal.  She teaches Vinyasa style classes and specializes in pelvic floor yoga therapy and foam rolling techniques for myofacial release (great for runners and athletes).  She began teaching yoga three years ago and loves how yoga works to balance the mind, body and soul. Jacki’s classes encourage continuous action and flowing movement in the body connected to the breath. Jacki focuses on teaching students to breathe, to accept and love themselves and their bodies, to think positively and to let go of judgement and competition.

JENNIFER WALDEN

Jennifer had only been practicing yoga a short while when a dear friend invited her along for a one month journey studying Iyengar yoga on the Baja peninsula.  Unable to refuse this gift from the universe, she embarked down the path of teaching.  Since then she has been fortunate enough to study vinyasa and Forrest yoga at renowned New England studios.  Jennifer is a cardiovascular nurse and primary care nurse practitioner which allows her to infuse her classes with both traditional and complimentary knowledge of the body.  Her classes are challenging, accessible, and meant to give the body an opportunity to receive wellness and cultivate awareness.

HEATHER GUIDERO – Front Desk Staff

Heather has been at the front desk since February 2011, and loves getting to know each and every delightful Yoga One student that drops in for class. In addition to her front desk duties, she is enjoying the opportunity to take classes from all of the instructors and get to know their own unique teaching styles while strengthening her own yoga practice. When she is not at the desk or on the mat, Heather can be found teaching jewelry classes at the Steelyard in Providence and learning how to garden at the Roger Williams Park Community Garden.
